Single-Tooth Dental Implants

A single-tooth implant replaces one missing tooth without involving the teeth on either side. The implant sits in the jawbone where the root was, and a crown made to match your other teeth is attached to it.

Whether it suits you is decided after an examination of the gums and the bone in that area.

When one tooth is missing

One missing tooth can be replaced with a bridge, a removable partial denture or an implant. An implant stands on its own, so the neighboring teeth do not have to be reshaped to hold it. Which option fits you is part of the conversation at your examination.

Questions patients ask

Do the teeth next to it need to be prepared?

A single-tooth implant does not need the neighboring teeth to be reshaped for support, unlike a conventional tooth-supported bridge.

Can a front tooth be replaced this way?

It can be. Whether it suits your case depends on the bone and gums in that area, which the examination shows.
