Smile Design & Cosmetic Dentistry
Smile Design
Smile design looks at the shape, shade and proportions of your teeth together, and at how they sit with your lips and face, so that any change suits you.
It starts with an examination and a conversation about what you would like to change and what you would rather keep.
A plan, not a single treatment
A smile design may bring together treatments such as whitening, bonding, veneers or gum contouring, or it may need only one of them. Which ones, in what order and at what fee is explained before you decide.
When several changes are planned together
If you would like to change more than one thing, such as the shade, the shape of a few teeth, a gap or the gum line, the treatments are set out as steps in one plan, sometimes called a smile makeover. The order of the steps is agreed with you before treatment begins.
Who might this treatment suit?
Someone who wants to see how possible changes would suit their face before any treatment begins, or who is unsure where to start: the plan can end up as a single, small change.

Questions patients ask
Do I have to change every tooth?
No. The plan follows what you want to change; sometimes that is one or two teeth.
Is smile design only about appearance?
The examination also looks at the health of the teeth and gums. If something needs treatment first, such as a cavity, inflamed gums or a missing tooth, it comes before any cosmetic step, and we explain it first.
