Sinus Lift

A sinus lift can create more bone height for an implant in the back of the upper jaw. The sinus lining is carefully lifted and bone graft material is placed beneath it.

An examination and imaging help determine whether this procedure is needed.

Making room for an upper back implant

Depending on how much bone there is, the implant may be placed at the same visit or after the new bone has healed. We explain which applies to you before treatment begins.

Questions patients ask

Why is the upper back jaw different?

The sinus sits just above it, so there is often less bone height there than elsewhere.

Is a sinus lift the same as bone grafting?

It is one kind of bone grafting, done in a specific place: under the sinus.
