Dentures
A complete denture replaces all the teeth in the upper or lower jaw with a removable set made to fit your gums and your bite.
Where some teeth remain, a partial denture or an option supported by implants may be considered instead.
Getting used to a denture
A new denture takes some getting used to, for speaking and for eating. Adjustments are part of the process, and we explain how to care for it.
Who might this treatment suit?
People missing all the teeth in a jaw, or about to lose them, who want a replacement that can be taken out for cleaning. It also suits someone for whom implants are not possible or not wanted for now; a denture can later be held by implants if that changes.
How treatment usually unfolds
Examination
We examine your gums and any remaining teeth and explain the options, including dentures held by implants.
Records of your mouth
Impressions or scans and a record of your bite are taken, so the denture is made for your mouth.
Trying it in
Before the denture is finished, you see and try the teeth, so their shape, shade and bite can be adjusted.
Fitting and adjustments
We fit the denture, show you how to care for it and adjust it as you get used to it.

Questions patients ask
Can a denture be held more firmly?
A denture can be held by dental implants. Whether that suits you depends on the bone in your jaw.
How do I clean a denture?
Brush it every day and keep it as we show you when you are not wearing it. Your gums need gentle cleaning too.
